Dr. Mian is an International Consultant and has vast experience in the field of
public health planning and management. He visited and studied a number of health

As Executive Director Special Projects, he headed foreign assisted projects of the
Department of Health, Government of Punjab. As In-charge of the Health Sector Reform
Unit (HSRU) of the Department of Health, developed Long Term Vision (10 years plan)
for health and supervised operations research studies. He Evaluated preventive programs
and prepared project proposals for multi-million dollar investments in health sector.
Represented Pakistan at international health forums. Actively contributed to health
policy formulation and health sector reforms both at national and provincial levels.
As team leader Contech, he has managed a number of sizable projects covering vast
geographic areas and has undertaken various assessments and evaluations.

Dr. Shehzad Hussain Awan |

Dr. Shehzad Hussain Awan is an experienced public health physician with vast understanding
of working for various public health assignments both in public and private organizations.
He has served at almost all levels in public sector including primary, secondary
and tertiary health care facilities, donor projects like Second Family Health Project
and Women Health Project, and as technical officer in Provincial Health Department.
He is well acquainted in planning & management of health system strengthening initiatives,
project implementation, procurements of goods and services, and monitoring and evaluation.
His experience in varied fields like Civil works/equipment, hepatitis, environment
and hospital waste management gave him an edge and hands on expertise in diverse
fields of health. He also worked as Additional Program Manager in PAIMAN (Pakistan
Initiative for Mothers and Newborns) project and is currently acting as the Deputy
CEO (Operations) for Contech International.

Dr. Iqbal Memon is a Public Health Physician. He is a medical graduate with Masters
in Public Health. He has vast experience in the field of primary health care, management
and training. He has extensively worked as Provincial Coordinator HMIS and remained
closely involved both in the development and implementation of MIS for National
Program for Family Planning & Primary Health Care and National HMIS. He has expertise
in system design, program implementation, staff training, preparation of project
proposals, report writing and monitoring and evaluation of health programs. He also
served as one of the lead master trainer on the new capacity building program on
use of Information. He is member of the task force on the national disease surveillance
program. Currently he is working as Regional Coordinator South in Contech and responsible
for strengthening of health delivery system at district level for PAIMAN.

He is a public health consultant with a vast experience in teaching as well. He
has been working for health system strengthening. He has been actively engaged in
prioritization and development of implementation strategies for Health Sector Reform
Framework Agenda. He has been the key person in the development of Minimum Service
Delivery Standards (MSDS), SOPs and Standardized Medical Protocols (SMPs) for Punjab
province. He has been involved in various capacities for provision of technical
assistance to PDSSP under ADB. He has vast experience of capacity building especially
in health planning, M&E and implementation of MSDS. He has also worked as Program
Manager for PPM TB DOTS project (USAID funded) implemented in Lahore, Faisalabad
and Rawalpindi. He has recently completed a project on "Strengthening capacity for
Health Sector Planning" for district governments of Punjab under TAMA.

Dr. Ahmed Nadeem is a public health consultant with vast experience of working in
various assignments both in public and private organizations. He has worked for
preventive health programs including Second Family Health Project, HIV/AIDS Control
Program and GAVI . He has a concrete background in planning & management of health
system strengthening initiatives, training programs, curriculum designing, health
system/services assessment and M&E. He has attended and arranged a large number
of trainings. He has been involved in preparation of tools for situation analysis
of Vaccine & Logistic Management Information System in Punjab. He has been the master
trainer for Health Facility Assessment (HFA) survey under PAIMAN Project. Support
in establishment and orientation of District Health Management Team (DHMT) & assistance
in data collection of Decision Space Study (DSS) were some of his other assignments.

Dr. Muhammad Wasim Mirza |

Dr. Mirza is working with Contech International as a Public Health Consultant since
2008. His key assignments with Contech include working as the Program Manager HIV-AIDS
Program focusing on men having sex with men in Lahore, funded by World Bank. He
later joined as a consultant for Contech- PAIMAN. He is also the honorary Program
Manager of Zahanat Foundation, an NGO mainly focusing on mother & child health and
the under privileged communities living in the rural areas. Dr. Mirza is a medical
graduate of King Edward and he has a post graduate diploma in General Surgery from
Austria and masters from Ziauddin University, Karachi. He had been associated with
various public and private institutions, both at home and abroad, where besides
clinical practice he also got experience of working at senior management positions.
He has organized numerous advocacy campaigns relating to Primary and Reproductive
Health Care and has conducted various researches. He has to his credit two thesis
and four research papers published in recognized medical journals.

Dr. Shahid Ahmad is a public health consultant. His vigilant and effective performance
earlier in other studies conducted by Contech have been instrumental in achieving

Pakistan and as Task Manager for Patient referral system in Health Sector Reform
Unit of Health Department, Punjab has given him a thorough familiarity with the

Nasim Ahmad Khan |

Mr. Nasim is a law graduate with Masters in Economics and in Health Management,
Planning & Policy (University of Leads UK). He has participated in more than 100
international national and regional short courses, workshops and seminars on diversified
topics of social science particularly health sector. He has served as a senior planning
officer for Health Department Punjab where he worked on primary, secondary and tertiary
health care infrastructure development, biomedical equipment and human resource
planning .He has also served as Director Planning at office of Director General
Health Services. As an international consultant, he developed Five Year Strategic
Plan for UNICEF Sudan. He has worked with Contech since 2004 as a planning consultant.
He has developed numerous project documents, strategic and annual operational plans
for government and private sectors along with policy papers. He has also conducted
baseline surveys for health facility assessment and various household surveys. He
recently finished a project on "Strengthening capacity for Health Sector Planning"
as a Team Leader for district governments of Punjab under TAMA.

Dr. Majrooh is a medical graduate from University of The Punjab and has done his
post graduation in community medicine. He has contributed towards teaching and has
worked as a demonstrator in renowned medical institutes of Pakistan. He has worked
as an Assistant Professor in the Community Medicine department at the Institute
of Public Health Lahore, Jinnah Hospital Lahore and as a senior demonstrator at
the Allama Iqbal Medical College. Dr. Majrooh has had the honor to work with International
Health Agencies WHO, UNICEF and CDC Atlanta in various Public Health Projects as
Research Consultant and Epidemiologist. He has published seven research papers in
national medical journals. His insight in the field of research, management, in
conducting evaluations, teaching, training and administration is vast. He, under
the aegis of Contech has been involved in conducting of Health Facility Assessment
and Decision Space and Capacity Analysis in USAID selected districts for PAIMAN
project. He is currently working as a technical advisor in Contech.

administration from Punjab University. She started her professional career as a
medical officer and served in Children"s Hospital and the Institute of Child Health
till May 2006. As a research associate, she was actively involved in the project
of Life Cycle approach for Maternal, New born and Child healthcare in a rural setting.
She also served as the program coordinator for TAMA as well as PDSSP. Currently
she is working as the National Program Manager Contech " PAIMAN and is responsible
for planning, implementation, supervision and monitoring of all project activities
and is actively involved in implementation of DHIS in 18 PAIMAN districts all over
the country.

Iram Shahzadi |

Iram Shahzadi is a Communication Specialist with a masters in mass communication
from University of the Punjab. During the projects at Contech, her involvement has
been crucial during trainings, social marketing, preparation of manuals, preparation
of data collection instruments, data collection and report writing. She served as
a project officer for a five year HIV/AIDS project for female sex workers in Lahore
under aegis of World bank. She has given various trainings to field staff and peer
educators on HIV/AIDS, reproductive health and STIs. She is currently the program
manager of HIV/AIDS stop gap project for female sex workers funded by UNFPA.

She is a medical graduate from Fatima Jinnah Medical College Lahore. She later worked
as a product manager for a French pharmaceutical where she was extensively trained
in marketing, strategic planning and promotions. As the business head of a group,
she set up a subsidiary of Expressions Singapore in Pakistan. In Contech she took
up as the Program Manager Health Communications. She devised communication strategies
on different health issues for UNFPA, USAID, SCUS etc .She also contributed towards
developing media plan for diseases like Polio & Dengue fever for the department
of Health Government of Punjab. She has managed implementation of two ADB funded
projects:

School Health and Screening Program
Her selection by USAID for a course in Phillipines on P4P, let her contribute in
proposal development on P4P for Centre of Global Development. She studied "Human
Resources in Health", from Harvard apart from being trained by John Hopkins in "Leadership

After doing MBBS from King Edward Medical College, he completed his house job in
Mayo Hospital. He did masters in public health from the University of New South
Wales, Sydney. He then worked at the National Drug and Alcohol Centre (NDARC), Sydney.
While at NDARC, he worked on two projects; the Global Burden of Disease Project
(a project of WHO); and the Reference Group to the United Nations for HIV and Illicit
Drug Use. He joined Contech in May 2009 as Program Officer, worked on "The Evaluation
of Public " Private Partnership Initiatives of the Government of Punjab for Contracting
of Primary Health Care (PHC) Services Delivery to Punjab Rural Support Program (PRSP)
And National Commission For Human Development (NCHD)" project as Public Health Expert.
He also recently completed a project on "Strengthening capacity for Health Sector
Planning "for TAMA as a public health expert. He is currently working on writing
a project report for Save the children US.

Dr. Muhammad Adeel Alvi is a young public health professional and has served the
organization in programmatic, technical and managerial roles. He started his professional
life working on public private partnership initiatives and acquired hands-on practical
experience of working on pro-poor healthcare financing, reproductive health, safe
motherhood and school health services. With Contech, he was also part of design
team that worked on developing a model of Pay For Performance, funded by Centre
for Global Development. Further, he has worked as public health specialist with
USAID-funded PAIMAN Project for development of policy briefs and annual operational
plans for districts and agencies of Pakistan. Currently, he is coordinating healthcare
relief activities for flood-affected areas through Mobile Health Unit Initiative.
Dr. Adeel holds a masters degree in public health with specific focus on healthcare
quality improvement and leadership development from University of Helsinki, Finland.
He also works as Reviewer for Bulletin of the WHO.

Dr. Luqman Farrukh Nagi is a medical graduate from the University of Health Sciences,

in district of Hangu. She recently completed a study on "Developing Mechanism for

EpiData, EpiAnalysis. Besides he has good knowledge of MS Office and MS Windows.
He has been working in the field of statistics for more than sixteen years. He started
off as Statistical Assistant in World Bank Second Family Health Project Punjab 1993
to 1996. In 1996, he joined Asian Development Bank Health Care Development Project
Punjab as a Computer Assistant, where he worked for three years. However, in 1999,
he served as Support IT in Health Sector Reform Unit Punjab, which was funded by
DFID UK. He joined Contech as Biostatistician in April 2002, now he is working as
Senior-Statistician. He designed and analyzed a number of household surveys, health
facility assessments, evaluation studies and completed a number of other assignments

Sarosh is a Masters in Mass Communications. Before she joined Contech in 2004, she
worked in a local newspaper where she was involved in writing articles and translations.

and submission of reports, micro-planning, arranging and conducting workshops and
meetings of PAIMAN. Under PAIMAN project, she was also responsible for knowledge

as a manager in Nafees Medicine Company where his job descriptions included management,
administration and supervision of overall work and business of the firm. He joined
Contech in May 2006 as a Program Officer - Research, M&E and Trainings. He has been
responsible for management, administration, and supervision of various assignments
and projects. His responsibilities includes preparation of tools for data collection
and training manuals for data collection teams, delivering training to field enumerators
and surveyors, management of logistics for trainings programs, field work and surveys
and monitoring of survey teams and field work. He has conducted training of more
than 100 Citizen Community Boards (CCBs) and trainings of local government officials
on Local Government Ordinance (LGO). He has also been responsible for writing reports,
translation from English to Urdu and vice versa, editing, proof reading and finalization
of reports.
